The manufacturing of RFID (Radio-Frequency Identification) inlays can incorporate operations that are already established in semiconductor and electronics packaging. Asymtek provides the DispenseJet® DJ-9000 valve as a method to apply conductive epoxies and anisotropic conductive pastes for die attach (ACP dispensing) on RFID tag antenna assemblies in line with printed electronics processes.
Multiple-head solutions can provide dispensing of these materials at web speeds up to 100 meters per second. In addition, jetting is ideal for the newest formulations of conductive inks used in RFID production processes.
RFID operations today benefit from the power of jetting in several ways. One is the addition of an Asymtek dispensing platform, like an Axiom system with a jet, into the reel-to-reel manufacturing line. Another way is to integrate multiple jets into a custom-built line or into a narrow web press (used in the label converting industry). The jets are mounted in a stationary position and they dispense fluids onto the moving web without touching it. The jet cycles up to 200 times per second and “jets-on-the-fly”, delivering continuous dots precisely onto the web. The result is a fast and accurate process.
