Asymtek Releases DispenseJet® Valve for Jetting Underfill: Ideal for Dense PCB Designs and Stacked Die Packages

Carlsbad, CA - Asymtek also offers the DispenseJet® DJ-2100 Series Valve for Underfill, bringing the innovation of jet dispensing to the underfill process. Jetting underfill is ideal for dispensing in tighter areas where standard needle dispensing is not possible, like dense circuit boards or stacked die packages. In addition, jetting underfill can be significantly faster than standard needled dispensing, up to 6 times faster.

The DispenseJet valve is for use on Asymtek dispensing systems:

  • Jets a wide range of fluids, including underfill, surface mount adhesive, silver epoxy
  • Allows dispensing of underfill in tighter areas on dense circuit boards or stacked die packages
  • Eliminates z-axis motion during dispensing, saving time
  • Virtually eliminates height sensing
  • Adaptable for use from prototype to high-volume, in-line production
  • Offers a reliable non-contact dispensing solution

For several years, surface mount adhesive has been successfully jetted in many facilities worldwide. To create the DispenseJet valve for Underfill, Asymtek engineers applied special coatings and implemented several design changes to produce a jet to withstand the punishing characteristics of shooting highly filled underfill materials.

Using the DispenseJet valve for Underfill, users should see a reduction in cost for underfill fluid, since jetting delivers less material per package and positions the fluid more precisely and consistently than needles. As a result, the jet delivers higher yields. Jetting is usually faster than needle dispensing, since no z-axis movement is required. Consequently, the dispensing head moves faster and dispensing speed increases, compared to needles. One customer saw a two-fold improvement in throughput speed, though specific applications vary.

Celebrating 20 years of success in 2003, Asymtek supplies award-winning automated fluid dispensing systems to customers worldwide. Specializing in semiconductor, surface mount, and electronics packaging applications, they are committed to providing total dispensing solutions and local support.
