Asymtek's New SC-300 Swirl Coat™
Applicator Features Three Modes of Operation for Flexibility and
Control
Carlsbad, CA - Asymtek announces the release of its
new conformal coating applicator, the SC-300
Swirl Coat™.
The Swirl Coat applicator allows manufacturers to apply conformal
coatings to circuit boards by varying the volume, dispensing pressure
and shape of the air assist in three modes of operation: bead, monofilament
and swirl. Ideal for production environments with a high mix of
circuit boards and wide variations in coating types, the SC-300
applicator applies a full range of solvent-based and 100% solids
coatings with viscosities from 30 to 3500 centiPoise. The use of
a multi-mode applicator eliminates the need for a second applicator
in most applications, simplifying cleaning and maintenance requirements
and increasing the effective work area of the system. Patents are
currently pending.
A new, exposed "zero cavity" nozzle design reduces clogging
and is easy to clean; significantly reducing production downtime.
Higher flow rates and faster process times can be achieved, increasing
throughput. Maintenance is simple; minimal wetted parts are easy
to disassemble and remove. The SC-300's low fluid pressure and fine
control of film thickness reduces the chances of inducing bubbles
in the coating layer. In addition, the zero cavity nozzle reduces
the exposure of materials sensitive to ambient conditions until
they are applied to the substrate, making handling of moisture-cure,
UV cure and solvent-based coatings much easier.
For added flexibility, one of three fluid extensions can be fitted
onto the main assembly, allowing a broad selection of spray patterns.
The three extensions create a straight, narrow or wide angle spray
coating pattern to fit the application. Programmable software allows
coating modes to be changed on-the-fly in a single board program,
providing high speed coverage of a large area and tight, precise
control of small dots in selective areas. The SC-300 easily integrates
with Asymtek/Nordson's Select Coat and Conformal Coating systems.
