Additional Information:

Why a new stopcock?
Throughput demands have increased and fluids have longer pot lives. As a result, users want less operator intervention to run dispensing equipment. It was determined that a longer-life stopcock for DP-3000 series pumps would fit that request.

What does the composite stopcock look like?
The composite stopcock is designed to be form, fit, and functionally compatible with the DP-3000 pumps so no changes are required to use it. The outer body is made from a black nylon with fiberglass filler (approximately 25%). The spool of the stopcock is white and is made from a High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) material.

Are there any other changes to the stopcock?
The port holes on the refill side of the stopcock have been made larger to facilitate faster refill times. Ribs have been added to produce a stiffer body to the stopcock. The seal between the spool and the body of the stopcock has been improved to lengthen the life or number of actuations and still retain a good seal. Also, the chemical resistance of the stopcock has been improved through the use of new materials for this part.

What testing has been done on the stopcock?
The composite stopcock has been extensively tested in the US, Europe and China at three different production sites. These customers found it had a significant improvement in life of the part with their materials. Based on these results, it is anticipated that users will see 2x to 4x improvement in the life of the stopcocks in production.

What if I want to keep buying the current stopcock?
Until February 1, 2003, users can order unlimited amounts of the current stopcock. After this date, Asymtek will phase out its manufacture and the price will increase significantly.
