Delphi Mechatronics Selects Asymtek to Equip Automotive Systems Manufacturing Facility

Delphi Mechatronics Systems, a world leader in mobile electronics, transportation components and systems technology, has selected Asymtek and Nordson's conformal coating systems to equip their Foley, Alabama facility. Delphi manufactures automotive and consumer electronics for such corporations as BMW, Ford, GM and GE. Using the Asymtek Century® C-740 and Nordson Select Coat® systems equipped with Easy Coat® for Windows NT® (ECNT) software, Delphi applies a wide range of conformal coatings, including 100% solids UV curable polyurethane, 100% solids moisture cure silicone and solvent-borne acrylics. According to Delphi's Senior Process Engineer Lee Kibler, program creation and debug time has been reduced from days to hours.

One of their Nordson machines has been in steady production for approximately ten years. "Asymtek and Nordson are an invaluable asset to Delphi's process development and enhancement of our facility," says Kibler. The ECNT software reduces the complexity of the conformal coating patterns, allowing for more emphasis on the quality of the end product. Kibler also states that the graphical interface greatly helps the Process Engineer prevent skips, dry spots and thin coverage. "ECNT has virtually eliminated operator error, equipment damage and product damage due to selecting an incorrect program. Our operators were fully up-to-speed on the new interface in a couple of hours…They love the new software," he says.

Delphi was also impressed with the quality of Asymtek/Nordson's technical support. "Thank you for being such a top notch supplier of conformal coating equipment. The technical support supplied by Tim Wammes (Nordson Ohio) has been outstanding," explains Kibler.

Delphi conducts its multi-national business operations through various subsidiaries and has headquarters in Troy, Michigan, USA, Paris, Tokyo, and Sao Paulo, Brazil. Their integrated systems and modules are designed to help simplify vehicle manufacturers' processes and meet the demands of today's hi-tech vehicles.
